The Alaska/Oregon/Washington State Conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, in conjunction with the Western Region I Office, would like to announce a special election for the Portland branch of the NAACP. This special election is designed to elect the executive committee of the branch.
The special election will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 28 in Terrell 122 of the Portland Community College, Cascade campus, 705 N. Killingsworth Ave., Portland. Candidates will give presentations from 1 to 2 p.m. The voting will take place between 2 and 6 p.m. and winners will be announced that same day.
Oscar Eason, Jr., president of the regional NAACP state conference, and Jamal Watkins, director of the NAACP western region, will conduct the election.
The election will be formally governed by the Election Procedure Manual and Roberts Rules of Order and is open to all members (with membership renewals will be available onsite). Available positions with the Portland branch include president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, assistant secretary, assistant treasurer and five executive committee member positions.
