Head Start parents are taking advantage of a new federal law that allows voter registration to take place at Head Start sites, allowing more individuals the opportunity to register.
With the assistance of the Portland League of Women Voters, parents have arranged for locations and times for voter registration.
"We are the first Head Start parents nationwide to do this," said organizer Monique Hall. "There are so many people, who aren't registered to vote-with an upcoming election. It is important that people register to vote … and more importantly vote!"
The registration time for all locations is 3:30-5:30 p.m. The dates and locations are as follows:
Monday, Sept. 29, 6841 N Interstate Ave., and 3674 SE Gladstone Street; Tuesday, Sept. 30, 606 NE Ivy St., and 4514 SE Flavel St.; Wednesday, Oct. 1, 4219 NE Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., and 7600 NE Glisan St.; Thursday, Oct. 2, 6930 N Kerby Ave., and 909 NE 52nd Ave.; Friday, Oct. 3, 911 N Skidmore St., and 9009 N Foss St.
