According to a survey by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners released in August 2008:
Twenty-two percent of Americans say that they have cut back on the number of times they see a physician as a result of the weaker economy.

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA) helps qualifying patients who lack prescription coverage receive the medicines they need through public or private programs.  Many of these programs are offered by individual pharmaceutical companies.  PPA is sponsored by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), doctors, other health care providers, patient advocacy organizations and community groups.
