MDC to Host Evening Forum with Seattle City Council Candidates

The Metropolitan Democratic Club is proud to be the first city-wide organization to present members and friends with an opportunity to hear from all 15 [filed and invited] candidates running for seats on the Seattle City Council.  The forum is free and open to the public, and will be moderated by Sen. Pete Francis. Boxed dinners will be available for purchase.
The event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at Labor Temple in downtown Seattle, 2800 First Avenue, Hall #1
Parking is free, and is located across the street, at 2801 First Ave., under the Ellington Condominiums. It can be accessed from the alley that runs parallel to First Avenue, between Clay Street and Broad Street. The Labor Temple's garage door is the door closest to Broad Street. To gain entry, you must enter the code *011203# on the keypad to the right of the door. The characters and numbers must be punched in in that order, or it won't work. The CREATION Project Boosts African American Artists

The CREATION Project is a new works and professional development program created by the Central District Forum for Arts & Ideas for African-American performing artists based in King County. The purpose of The CREATION Project is to support the creation of new work for Seattle's African-American performing artists in the formative stages of their careers; to use the artistic process as the platform for learning critical professional development skills; and to support distinctive African-American artistic voices.

A panel will select up to four participants representing a range of performing arts disciplines. Each participant will receive a $1,000 stipend to be used towards the creation of a new work, participate in professional development seminars, facilitated peer discussions and a showcase at Broadway Performance Hall in May 2010.
This is the second round for The CREATION Project. During the CD Forum's 2007-2008 season, six artists participated in the first CREATION Project. Former participants have gone on to receive numerous grant awards including an Artist Trust Fellowship and perform their work in Seattle and the nation. The CD Forum is proud to support and commit to nurturing and presenting African-American artists in King County that represent the diversity and quality of contemporary African-American arts & culture.
For Guidelines and Application visit www.cdforum.org. Application deadline is Friday, May 22.
